It has been my good fortune to have been a client of Paramount Wealth Management for over a decade.
As I approach retirement, I find myself in the most favourable financial position I have been in my life. This is, in no small measure, a result of the advice and guidance of the Paramount team.
Twelve months ago, I was paying full tax on a reasonable salary and planning on acquiring a negatively-geared investment property as a method of adding to my retirement portfolio.
As a result of advice received from Paramount, I now have my salary sacrificed to my new self-managed superannuation fund, I receive a tax-free pension sufficient to fund a comfortable lifestyle and I have an investment property as an asset of my super fund, rather than geared against my now zero taxable income. What’s more, I was able to purchase the property through a warrant structure which meant I did not need to liquidate a substantial chunk of my superannuation assets to fund the property purchase (something I would have been loath to do in the current market!)
It is not only Paramount’s advice from which I have benefitted, but their ability to lock in on my needs and goals, design a strategy to meet them and explain it to me in terms I can understand. I have received financial advice from Paramount Wealth Management since 2001 when they were first recommended to me as financial advisers. Since then Paramount has provided me with advice on financial planning which has ranged from how to effectively manage my tax obligations through tax effective investment strategies, to protection of my assets through setting up of wills for my wife and I, to personal insurance.
This advice has been tailored to reflect my changing personal circumstances. When I commenced my association with Paramount, I was resident in Australia with tax obligations here, a large mortgage, and two dependent children. Subsequently, as I moved into a new position with limited tax liability in Australia, the financial planners at Paramount changed the focus of my investment focus away from tax-effective strategies to those more suited to my situation. When I returned to Australia and again became liable for income tax but without a mortgage, and with less dependent children, they again changed my investment strategy to reflect these changed circumstances. I have found their flexibility in responding to my changing personal situation quite impressive.
More recently, Paramount has advised on and helped significantly in the setting up of my self-managed superannuation scheme and continue to provide sound advice on strategies for investment within the context of ever-changing ATO rulings.
Notwithstanding the recent crash in the markets and its impact on parts of my investment portfolio, I am very satisfied with Paramount’s advice over the years. In fact, the strategy of diversified investments set up by them has meant that the impact has been less than it might otherwise have been.

Although I have only been dealing with Paramount for a little over two years, the change to my financial situation as a result of their involvement has been dramatic.
I was referred to them by an accountant while living and working overseas. Planning to return to WA, I felt that I needed professional guidance to get my financial house in order and to capitalise on my offshore earning capacity while this was still possible.
When I first met them, I had a reasonably substantial property portfolio, but also had a fair amount of debt. Worse still, primarily for want of expert assistance, a disproportionate amount of my debt was personal and thus not tax deductible, whereas I had a substantial amount of equity in my investment properties. While I was doing okay in terms of creating wealth, they pointed out that I could achieve a lot more without incurring any additional expenditure.
Since working with Paramount, I have achieved a number of my financial goals AND a lot sooner than expected.
I may have done okay financially without Paramount's help, but probably not as well and DEFINITELY not as quickly.
